A new borehole was commissioned in Kaguvi District on the 19th of August 2023, bringing relief to the community, which had been facing water shortages for many years.
The borehole was commissioned by Honorable Tongai Mnangagwa, the Minister of Water, Sanitation, and Environment. He was joined by the CEO of the Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council, Wensley Muchineri, and the Board Chairman, Cde. Stalin Mau Mau.
The borehole is expected to provide water to over 2000 people in the community.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Cde. Stallin Mau Mau said that the borehole was a sign of Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council’s commitment to providing clean water to disadvantaged communities within the Catchment. He urged the community to take care of the borehole and to use the water wisely.
The CEO of the Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council, Engineer Wensley Muchineri, said that the borehole was part of a larger project to improve water supply in the district. He said that the council was working to drill more boreholes and to rehabilitate existing water infrastructure.
Honorable Mnangagwa thanked Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council for the borehole and said that it would make a big difference to the lives of the people in the community.
The commissioning of the borehole was a welcome relief to the people of Kaguvi District, who had been struggling to access clean water for a long time. The borehole is expected to improve the lives of the people in the community and to help to boost economic development in the area.
