The Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council (UMSCC), in collaboration with Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI), successfully delivered a solar-powered borehole to the Kuwadzana 1 community. The borehole was officially handed over on August 8, 2024, in a ceremony attended by distinguished guests from KFHI, Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council, as well as representatives form the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.

Mr. Chang-Nam Choi, the Chairperson of KFHI, graced the event with his presence. He expressed his excitement as this was his first time in Zimbabwe and he was happy to have been part of this handover ceremony.

“It is such an honour to have been part of this handover ceremony,” he said.

“KFHI has been working with UMSCC in assisting disadvantaged communities have access to clean water and Pastor Hyeon has been representing us all this while, but I am happy to have witnessed this event.”

The Kuwadzana 1 Community also expressed their gratitude for the borehole.

“We feel blessed to have been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of these boreholes,” said Mr.  Muzhingi, the Kuwadzana 1 community representative.

“We will ensure that the borehole is well taken care of and it will cater for every member of the community regardless of social differences,” he said.

Representatives from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development also participated in the ceremony.

The solar-powered borehole is a significant addition to the Kuwadzana 1 community, providing a reliable source of clean water. This project highlights the UMSCC’s unwavering commitment to ensuring access to clean water for all residents within its jurisdiction.

The partnership between UMSCC and KFHI has been instrumental in delivering this vital community project. This collaboration demonstrates the power of international cooperation in addressing local challenges and improving the lives of people in need.
